Arborjet Announces Recipients of 2015 “Taking Root” College Scholarships

Woburn, MA — Arborjet, a company dedicated to developing remedies for the world’s most destructive tree insects and diseases, today announced the recipients of its 2015 “Taking Root” Scholarships. Each of the 10 graduating high school seniors selected has won a $1,000 scholarship to pursue full-time studies in Forestry, Plant Sciences, Horticulture, Entomology, Environmental Science or a related major at an accredited two-year or four-year college.

As a leader in the care of America’s urban and natural forests, Arborjet is committed to giving promising high school seniors the financial support they need to pursue careers in the growing arboriculture industry. Arborjet’s “Taking Root” College Scholarship Program is currently in its second year, and has collectively awarded $20,000 in educational grants.

Nicole Blandin of Prospect, Kentucky
Ms. Blandin attends St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana and is majoring in Biology.

Kayla Broster of Mount Carmel, Illinois
Ms. Broster attends Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois and is majoring in Crop and Soil Sciences.

Emily MacDonald of Brockton, Massachusetts
Ms. MacDonald attends Unity College in Unity, Maine and is majoring in Earth & Environmental Sciences.

Fauna Mahootian of Brooklyn, New York
Ms. Mahootian attends the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan and plans to major in Environmental Sciences.

Matthew Ramirez of Alta Loma, California
Mr. Ramirez attends Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey and will major in Environmental Sciences.

Jessica Robyns of Marquette, Michigan
Ms. Robyns attends Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin and will major in Environmental Studies.

Shirsha Sengupta of Sacramento, California
Ms. Sengupta attends California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California and plans to major in Environmental Sciences.

Michael Shanahan of Pittsford, New York
Mr. Shanahan attends Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and will major in Environmental Science.

Michael Tilton of Boxford, Massachusetts
Mr. Tilton attends University of Massachusetts Amherst in Amherst, Massachusetts and is majoring in Arboriculture.

Samantha Woog of Rochester, Minnesota
Ms. Woog attends Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and will major in Environmental Sciences.

The honorees are dedicated students who have demonstrated achievement in their communities and schools, and who plan to bring their skills and talents to the arboriculture industry.
