WNA Announces Plants of the Year
The Wisconsin Nursery Association announced its 2010 Plants of the Year, selected during its annual membership meeting and workshop. The woody ornamental plant of the year is Quercus muehlenbergii (chinkapin oak), and the perennial plant of the year is Calamintha nepeta var. nepeta “Montrose White” (Montrose White dwarf calamint).
AEM Announces New Industry Support
The Association of Equipment Manufacturers and Volvo Construction Equipment have signed an agreement that makes Volvo the presenting sponsor for AEM’s annual Construction Challenge teen competition. The challenge is a creative problem-solving program that educates young people about the value of construction industry careers, as well as industry contributions to improved quality of life. Volvo is the exclusive official presenting sponsor for 2010 to 2014, to include the challenge finals at the triennial CONEXPO-CON/AGG exposition, the challenge program within Destination ImagiNation’s yearly Global Finals, and regional rally qualifying events.
ASIC to Host National Conference
The American Society of Irrigation Consultants has scheduled its national conference for April 24-26 in Monterey, Calif. ASIC will present its new strategic plan, which will redefine the society’s mission. Featured speakers include Dr. Ali Harivandi, Wayne Owens, Keil Albert and Stephanie Pintar. The conference will also include industry news, technical presentations, open forums, new projects, new product applications, tabletop displays and networking opportunities. Floor Plan Available for National Green Centre
The booth selection process is underway for the 2011 National Green Centre, presented by the Western Nursery & Landscape Association. The floor plan, which can be found online at www.nationalgreencentre.org, was designed to meet the sales and networking needs of exhibitors and attendees, with prominent island booth displays and ample networking areas.
