ANLA News
The American Nursery & Landscape Association shared its perspective with congressional staff during a briefing reviewing a new study regarding immigration reform. The study was conducted by Dr. Raul Hinojosa of the University of California, Los Angeles, and looked at three scenarios: comprehensive immigration reform, a temporary worker program only and an enforcement-only scheme based on deportation. It found that comprehensive immigration reform that includes legalization and flexible future visa programs would result in $1.5 trillion in economic growth over 10 years.
ANLA applauded the USDA for allocating $45 million, provided by Section 10201 of the 2008 Farm Bill, for projects in support of critical plant health safeguarding initiatives across America. The association also applauded Rep. Kurt Schrader for introducing H.R. 4509, the Small Business Environmental Stewardship Assistance Act of 2010.
