PLANET Hosts Student Career Days
The Professional Landcare Network held the 34th annual Student Career Days at the Chattahoochee Technical College in Georgia. The event, sponsored by Stihl and Husqvarna, drew 883 students from 68 colleges. The event featured a career fair and competitions that are directly related to the skills necessary for a career in the green industry. Landscape architects and related design professionals can now access continuing education courses online from nearly 100 approved providers with the Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LA CES), a collaboration between the American Society of Landscape Architects, Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture, Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards, Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board and the Landscape Architecture Foundation. LA CES offers courses covering a range of topics, such as CADD/GIS, business practices, green roofs, residential design and stormwater management. For more information, visit http://laces.asla.org.
PGMS Heads to Boston for Site Visit
The Professional Grounds Management Society will host the second of its 2010 Regional Grounds Management Seminar & Site Visitation series in Boston on July 22-23. The event will include visits to Fenway Park, Mount Auburn Cemetery and Arnold Arboretum, as well as education sessions on topics such as invasive plants, hardscape options, green roof design and dealing with difficult people.
