ASLA Conducts Salary Survey
The average salary for landscape architecture professionals is $71,100, according to a new national survey by the American Society of Landscape Architects. The overall salary dropped from $74,500 in 2008, a reflection of severe economic conditions. The survey of 1,202 industry professionals was completed in May 2010.
The average salary for licensed landscape architects is $77,700, representing 73 percent of all respondents. The average salary of those without a license is $52,700.

HRI Presents Scholarships
The Horticultural Research Institute, the research affiliate of the American Nursery & Landscape Association, awarded the 2010 Timothy S. and Palmer W. Bigelow Jr. Scholarship to Amanda Lilly of Salem, Mass. Lilly, a second-year graduate student at City College of New York, received a $2,000 scholarship in support of her master’s degree in landscape architecture.
HRI also awarded the 2010 Carville M. Akehurst Memorial Scholarships in the sum of $1,000 each to Lucy Wang and Julia Kriz. Wang, from Lutherville, Md., is a junior at the University of Maryland majoring in landscape architecture. Kriz, of Fairfax, Va., is a graduate student at George Washington University pursuing a master’s degree in landscape design.
