10th Annual Turfgrass Advocacy Day a Success

The New York State Turfgrass Association held its 2009 Turfgrass Advocacy Day, which included 44 participants and 52 legislative visits. Issue papers on local regulation of pesticides, pre-emption of fertilizer, the Turfgrass Environmental Stewardship Fund, using less than label rates of pesticides, the New York Farm Viability Institute and pesticide product registration can be accessed at www.nysta.org/events/lobbyday2009/lobbyday2009.html.

CNLA Announces Award Recipients

The Connecticut Nursery & Landscape Association presented its highest award of merit for 2009 to Bill VanWilgen, owner of VanWilgen’s Garden Center in North Branford, Conn.

Adam Wheeler received the state’s Young Nursery Professional Award, sponsored each year by the New England Nursery Association. He works at Broken Arrow Nursery, Hamden, Conn.
