As a general rule, the most damaging tree insects are the ones that bore into the sapwood. Borers damage the conductive vessels of the tree. But leaf feeders can do quite a bit of damage to trees, as well, especially if they go unnoticed for a year or two before the customer brings you into the picture. Here’s a practical look at leaf feeders and their control. Become familiar with aphids, leafhoppers and treehoppers, spider mites, sawflies and leaf miners.
