Ed Gallagher Named Davey’s National Operations Manager
The Davey Tree Expert Company has named Ed Gallagher its national operations manager, strategic business relationships. With more than 30 years of industry experience, including 10 years at Davey, Gallagher has experience in sales, client relations and account/project management. Gallagher was one of the originators of Davey Golf, Davey Sports Turf and the Davey Institute of Grounds Management.

JohnDow Industries Adds, Promotes 3 Key Staff Members
JohnDow Industries promoted Brian Morgan, with JDI for 12 years, to regional sales manager. He is now responsible for supporting, training and motivating the JDI sales force as well as developing and maintaining profitable business relationships with new and existing distributors. Beth Repasky joined JDI as the new purchasing/inventory control manager replacing Morgan. She comes to JohnDow after eight years as supply chain manager at Supply Management Consulting in Kent, Ohio. Jonathon Cole is the company’s new inside sales coordinator, to professionally represent JohnDow in all written and verbal communications to include customer service management, sales support, monthly reporting, trade show coordination, return goods authorizations and order entry.

Signature Landscapes Announces Three New Partners
Tim Laskowski, Tim Scott and Sal Perez have been named partners of Signature Landscapes. The three new partners join Justin Trimble and Lebo and Merrill Newman bringing more than 160 combined years of landscaping experience to the Reno, Sparks and Carson City area. Laskowski is the installation division manager and senior estimator overseeing all aspects of the company’s landscape construction in tandem with Perez. Scott is the residential maintenance division manager and also oversees the Carson City branch, tree services and holiday lighting. Perez is the head of production and is the outside operations manager for the installation division.

BioPro Technologies Adds Arbor Product to Fertilizer Line
BioPro Technologies, LLC has expanded its fertilizer line to include a new tree care product. ArborPlex is a liquid nutrient solution designed to promote tree and shrub health. It is formulated with 50 percent slow-release nitrogen to provide consistent, extended feeding. BioPro Technologies, LLC is based in Ocala, Florida and is subsidiary of Ecologel Solutions, LLC.

Davey Names District Managers In New York and Pennsylvania
Ed Kollar has been promoted to district manager of the Albany, New York, residential/commercial office for Davey Tree, and Gary Schermerhorn district manager of the King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, residential/commercial office. Kollar joined the Davey team in 2003 and Schermerhorn began in 1991.

STIHL Names Stephen Ballenger Vice President of Operations
STIHL Inc. has welcomed Stephen Ballenger as the new vice president of operations. Ballenger will be responsible for all production operations at corporate headquarters where the company produces more than 275 models of handheld outdoor power equipment. He most recently served as president of Light Vehicles USA for Metalsa in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Otto Schmid Appointed Mitsubishi Fuso’s Product Management Director
Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc. named Otto Schmid its new director, product management. Schmid comes to MFTA directly from his position as NAFTA Project Lead at Customer Services for Daimler Trucks Asia, MFTA’s parent company. Prior to that assignment, he served for three years as Lead Field Auditor in Research and Development for Daimler AG at its headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. In his new role, Schmid will be based at MFTA’s headquarters in Logan Township, NJ.

Massey Services Shares Tips to Avoid Mosquito-Borne Illnesses
Mosquitoes and the mosquito-borne Zika Virus have been in the news a lot lately. Massey Services, the nation’s fifth largest pest prevention company, offers some tips to lessen the bites and stay protected from mosquito-borne illnesses. There are 13 species of mosquitoes which are capable of transmitting diseases. A professional pest management company can provide proper control and elimination services through a customized mosquito abatement program.

  • Focus mosquito abatement efforts outside the home; prevent mosquitoes from entering by having properly fitted and tightly closed doors, windows and screens
  • Mosquito larvae can develop and become adults in a matter of days; drain standing water often from the places it collects around your home (bird bath, unfiltered pools)
  • If there are excessive amounts of water outside your home, request professional help to apply a larvicide to reduce the mosquito population
  • Clear leaves and debris from gutters and drains to prevent the accumulation of stagnant water
  • Avoid working or playing outdoors at dawn or dusk when mosquitoes are most active. If you must be outside at these times, wear long sleeves and pants
  • Mosquitoes can bite through thin clothing; use insect repellent with DEET, applying it to both skin and clothing

Kawasaki’s Engine Division Promotes, Hires Sales Managers
The Engine Division of Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. promoted Bryant Huyser to a regional sales manager of the company’s dealer sales team. Two new dealer sales managers, Shawn Blatt and Mike Miller, have been added as well. Huyser has been with Kawasaki for nine years, holding various inventory and sales management positions. Blatt will be based in the Kansas City, Missouri region and will be responsible for dealer sales and development in northern Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, western Missouri, and eastern Oklahoma. Miller’s sales area will encompass Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Nevada and he will remain based in Washington State.
