Briggs & Stratton Files For Bankruptcy Protection

Briggs & Stratton
Citing challenges faced during COVID-19, Briggs & Stratton Corporation announced it has filed for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11. The world’s largest producer of gasoline engines for outdoor power equipment, the company designs, manufacturers, and markets power generation, lawn and garden, and turf care products through its Briggs & Stratton®, Simplicity®, Snapper®, Ferris®, Vanguard®, Allmand®, Billy Goat®, Murray®, Branco®, and Victa® brands. Todd Teske, Briggs & Stratton’s Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, stated, “Over the past several months, we have explored multiple options with our advisors to strengthen our financial position and flexibility. The challenges we have faced during the COVID-19 pandemic have made reorganization the difficult but necessary and appropriate path forward to secure our business. It also gives us support to execute on our strategic plans to bring greater value to our customers and channel partners. Throughout this process, Briggs & Stratton products will continue to be produced, distributed, sold and fully backed by our dedicated team.” As part of the filing, Briggs & Stratton entered into a definitive stock and asset purchase agreement with KPS Capital Partners, LP. RMLCS: Making A Difference, One Lawn At A Time

RMLCS
While several companies have generously reached out to provide free lawn care to first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s one organization (besides GreenCare for Troops) that has championed this charitable spirit since 2016. Raising Men Lawn Care Service (RMLCS) provides free mowing, raking, and snow shoveling for single mothers, veterans, elderly, and those who are disabled. But here’s the twist: it’s kids age seven to 17 who do the work! Designed to promote community awareness and volunteerism in future generations, RMLCS is a platform for youth to give back to those in need. And the kids gain a variety of valuable lawn care and social skills, which enables and influences them to pass along the keys of charitable giving to the next generation. RMLCS is the brain child of Rodney Smith, Jr. of Alabama. He was driving home from college one day in Huntsville when he saw an elderly man, a Mr. Brown, struggling to mow his lawn. Smith jumped out of his car to help the man and later, realizing there must be many others like Brown, made a pledge to himself: he would mow 40 lawns for people in need. When he reached that number in less than two months, he upped his goal to 100 lawns. Eventually, as word spread of Smith’s efforts, he received news about kids he had inspired to mow lawns in their areas. It gave Smith an idea and RMLCS was born — and with it came “The 50 Yard Challenge,” ...

Ferris ISX3300 Mowers Powered By Vanguard ETC Technology Engine

Ferris
Briggs & Stratton Corporation’s Ferris brand has introduced two all-new models in the Ferris ISX3300 platform powered exclusively by the Vanguard BIG BLOCK 40.0 Gross HP* EFI ETC engine (seen here), the first in the lineup to feature Vanguard’s all-new electronic throttle control (ETC) technology. The ETC technology reacts instantaneously to any applied load from its environment to maintain power when the application demands. Equipping the premier zero turn mower in the Ferris line — which also features the industry’s most advanced independent suspension system, Forefront™ — with the most powerful engine in the Vanguard lineup creates an ultimate mowing solution. “The all-new ISX3300 models — equipped with Vanguard’s most powerful engine yet — allow the mower to harness and put to work more of the power created by the engine,” said Jennifer Walth, senior marketing manager at Ferris. “This allows the mower to make quick work of long, dense, wet grass for added productivity so our operators can go home feeling good at the end of a long day.” The new ISX3300 models benefit from Vanguard’s all-new ETC technology. A flywheel speed sensor detects any change in speed and sends a signal to the throttle body, ensuring consistent engine speed and quality of cut, no matter the environment or load. Also equipped with EFI, this engine has improved starting at all temperatures, smooth performance at all elevations, quick load acceptance, and reduced fuel consumption. “We’re excited to offer Ferris customers another opportunity to benefit from Vanguard’s superior performance and ...
