Volvo Construction Equipment Receives Highest Retained Value Award

For the seventh straight year, Volvo Construction Equipment has received Highest Retained Value Awards from EquipmentWatch, a construction industry insights provider. The first 2022 award went to the EC380E in the Large Crawler Excavators category. The second went to the L250H in the Large Wheel Loaders category. “Volvo is committed to designing machines that retain high value over their entire life cycle, including when owners are ready to resell them at a competitive price,” said Stephen Roy, president, Region North America,Volvo CE. The EC380 crawler excavator and L250 wheel loader feature robust structures and high-quality welding for strength and durability. Volvo has also integrated machine technology that helps its products retain their value. This includes ActiveCare®Direct, a telematics system that provides insights to reduce fuel consumption, unplanned maintenance, operator errors, and excessive hours caused by unnecessary idling. To support the longevity of its equipment and help with life cycle value, Volvo offers several additional services to machine owners. These services include a Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty, a Fuel Efficiency Guarantee, and the Certified Used program. Bobcat Investing $13M To Expand In Minnesota

To streamline efficiencies across its manufacturing footprint in the Midwest region, Bobcat Company will build a new assembly plant on 22 acres in Rogers, MN, a northwest suburb of Minneapolis-Saint Paul. It will be the compact equipment manufacturer’s third location in Minnesota. The $13 million investment will add an additional 225,000 square feet in production capacity, and the company plans to add more than 100 new, full-time positions at the location this year. “This investment further demonstrates our commitment to our presence in Minnesota, while supporting the growth we are experiencing in the marketplace,” said Mike Ballweber, president of Doosan Bobcat North America. “We are dedicated to continuing to expand our capabilities and equipment product lines to empower our customers, and this new location will be an important part of this success.” Bobcat anticipates the new operation will be fully operational by fourth quarter of 2022. The facility will include assembly space, shipping and receiving docks, employee parking, breakroom, offices and meeting rooms.   Bobcat chose the location in Rogers, a growing suburban community in Hennepin County and the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area, due to the benefits of its unique location at the intersection of two regional roadway systems – Interstate 94 and Highway 101. This location will allow Bobcat to optimize manufacturing logistics by streamlining the company’s supply routes alongside other locations in the region, as well as create supply efficiencies that support both market demand and the company’s vigorous growth plans. New Excavator Brush Cutters From John Deere

Brush Cutter attachments
Early this year, John Deere introduced two new additions to its family of attachments for excavators: the RE40 and RE50 Rotary Brush Cutters. The RE40 and RE50 brush cutters’ directionally beveled blades push material into the head of the cutter, creating fine debris for recycling. The blades are also reversible, so when the leading-edge wears, they can be unbolted and flipped over for a fresh cutting edge. An automatic hydraulic braking system quickly stops the blade rotation after the machine is turned off, so operators can exit the cab. Equipped with a bolt-on mounting system, the RE cutters offer flexible configuration to a variety of coupling systems. If coupling requirements change, the units can be quickly and easily reconfigured. The RE40 and RE50 brush cutters “offer customers a means to step into the growing vegetation management segment of machine use,” said Jason Simmons, Project Manager of Global Attachments at John Deere Construction and Forestry Division. These brush cutters help landscaping and tree care professionals achieve high productivity, uptime and low operating costs. They are tested in the toughest applications, ensuring they are durable and will get the job done. RE40 and RE50 Rotary Brush Cutters are available as dealer installed kits for the John Deere 35, 50/60 and 75/85 model excavators. While these attachments are tested and optimized to work with John Deere excavators, they are also compatible with many competitive 3–10 ton excavator models.

Caterpillar Introduces New Mini Hydraulic Excavators

Mini Hydraulic Excavators
Caterpillar has added two new models to its lineup of mini hydraulic excavators: The 4-tonne Cat® 304 and 5-tonne Cat 305 CR Mini Hydraulic Excavators deliver more power and performance with lower operating costs. These new models are the final machines to be reengineered to the Cat next generation mini hydraulic excavator line concept. From the 1.5- to 10-tonne class models, all 17-20 Cat mini hydraulic excavators in the range (depending on region) offer common features and consistent controls layout to simplify training and operator adaptation. Designed to deliver an improved customer experience, the Cat 304 and Cat 305 CR deliver more power to the pumps, higher bucket breakout forces, and deeper standard digging depths to increase performance by up to 20% over their E2 series counterparts. Their industry-leading grease intervals and extended filter service life, combined with common components throughout the line and flat, easy-to-replace side panels, deliver up to 10% lower owner and operating costs.   Built with a new reduced radius design, the 304 features a narrow, 1700-mm (66.9 inch) track width, 254 mm (10 inches) slimmer than the 304 E2, for more versatility and access to confined spaces. While narrower, the new 304 design increases performance, balance and stability of the 4-tonne class model. Its reduced radius allows for greater stability, both 360-degree and when traveling with loads, while its extra counterweight option takes the model to an even higher level of stability. The new engine on the 5-tonne class Cat 305 CR Excavator delivers nearly ...

Bobcat Aids Search Dog Foundation With Equipment For Course Creation

Dog
Bobcat equipment is going to the dogs–search and rescue dogs, specifically! Bobcat Company has announced a new partnership with the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation (SDF), a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening disaster response in America by training highly skilled canine and handler search teams. Through this partnership, Bobcat construction equipment will be used to create and maintain realistic onsite training environments at the 125-acre National Training Center, which is designed to simulate conditions in various types of natural and manmade disasters. A Bobcat T750 compact track loader, Bobcat E35 excavator, and a variety of Bobcat attachments will be used for brush clearing, trenching, road maintenance, moving rubble to create new training courses and learning opportunities, and to modify existing courses for the dogs and their handlers. Founded in 1996, SDF has trained 180 certified first responder and canine teams that have deployed to 216 disasters and missing person searches. The partnership spotlights SDF’s National Training Center in Santa Paula, CA, where shelter dogs are trained to become rescue dogs through simulated rubble piles and mock disaster sites. Dogs must learn to crawl through tunnels, maneuver on ladders, navigate unstable surfaces and detect human scent beneath debris. Over the past 25 years, SDF and its dogs and handlers have worked to save lives in hundreds of disasters, such as: Hurricanes Katrina, Harvey, and Irma; the Oklahoma City bombing; California mudslides; the World Trade Center attacks; and earthquakes in Nepal, Haiti, and Japan. “This important partnership with Bobcat enables us to ...
