Vista Professional Outdoor Lights taps New District Sales Manager Vista Professional Outdoor Lighting has appointed Jake Sepulveda as the company’s newest district sales manager in its Landscape Division. Sepulveda will be responsible for Southern California sales territory, which includes the cities of Riverside and San Bernardino, as well as Las Vegas, NV. Sepulveda comes to Vista from his former role as regional sales manager with Brilliance LED. While at Brilliance, Sepulveda was responsible for educating existing distributors on products as well as maintaining relationships with contractors in the field, assisting them with lighting design, and troubleshooting projects. Prior to his tenure with Brilliance LED, Sepulveda worked as a store manager for both Horizon Distributors and SiteOne Landscape Supply, roles that allowed him to learn Vista’s landscape lighting products and the contractors who purchase and install them. Dovetail Promotes Callahan to Marketing Manager Dovetail Workwear, a women’s workwear brand, has promoted Molly Smithson Callahan to Marketing Manager. Callahan joined Dovetail in 2018 as a digital marketing consultant with particular emphasis on social and email campaigns and content creation. Over the past eight months, she’s parlayed her knowledge and experience into her newly appointed role overseeing all marketing efforts for the women’s specific workwear brand. International Turfgrass Foundation Awards Two Individuals

Musser Foundation selects Travis Russell and Dr. Devon Carroll as 2022 Award of Excellence recipients. The Musser International Turfgrass Foundation has selected both Travis Russell and Dr. Devon Carroll as 2022 Award of Excellence recipients. The Musser Award is given to outstanding Ph.D. candidates who, in the final phase of their graduate studies, demonstrated overall excellence throughout their doctoral program in turfgrass research. In rare years where top candidates are equally excellent, the foundation makes two awards. Russell received his B.S. degree in Horticulture, Landscape, and Turf Sciences at the University of Arkansas. He went on to earn his M.S. from University of Arkansas in Horticulture, where his thesis research focused on determining precise light requirements for golf course turfgrasses in the transition zone. Russell is currently completing his Ph.D. in Agronomy at Pennsylvania State University. In May of 2022, Russell will start as the technical services representative for the golf and lawn care industry for Bayer Environmental Sciences Canada. Dr. Devon Carroll received her B.S. degree in Turfgrass Science and M.S. degree in Agronomy focused in turfgrass at Penn State. She went on to earn a Ph.D. in Plant, Soil, and Environmental Science concentrated in weed science from the University of Tennessee. While at UT, she concurrently earned a second master’s degree in Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications focused on recruiting women to the turfgrass industry. Bayer To Hold Women In Golf Event For Turf Managers

The inaugural Bayer North American Women in Golf Education event for turf managers, “Welcome to the Club,” will take place September 18-20, 2019 in Raleigh, NC. This year’s event will bring together women from across the United States and Canada to focus on enhancing their careers. Applications are being accepted online until July 1. The event will be a celebration of community, commonality and growth. The two-day, all expense paid event will take place at the StateView hotel and Lonnie Poole Golf Course on the campus of North Carolina State University, the Bayer research and educational facility in Clayton, NC and at the new headquarters of the Bayer Environmental Science division in Cary, NC. The agenda will feature leadership and educational sessions, with a mix of agronomics, personal and professional development, as well as networking opportunities with speakers and other attendees during small group break outs and social activities. “Although women account for a small percentage of the golf and turf industry, the number of women involved in these industries is growing and we’re thrilled to be a part of that growth and sponsor this event,” said Will MacMurdo, head of the Bayer U.S. Turf and Ornamentals Business. “We believe that diversity and inclusion make for a stronger industry, and this event solidifies our commitment to both.
