Hoses Spray Heads Nozzles
Take a look at this assortment of hoses, spray heads and nozzles that can improve and add value to your professional lawn care and landscaping services. Precision™ Series Spray Nozzles From Toro® Toro’s Precision Series Spray Nozzles is an efficient spray nozzle line available to help irrigation professionals manage water use, eliminate runoff, and reduce customer water bills. Precision Series Spray Nozzles feature patented H20 Chip Technology that uses up to a third less water while achieving the same spray distance as conventional spray nozzles. With H20 Chip Technology, specially designed chambers emit micro streams of water that oscillate back and forth at a rate of nearly 200 times per second. The result is larger, more uniform-sized droplets, class-leading coverage of the irrigated area, and better-defined edges. All Precision™ Series Spray Nozzles have a matched precipitation rate of 1″ (25 mm) per hour. That means all nozzles, regardless of radius, water at the same rate. Users can run all the nozzles for the same amount of time to apply the amount of water needed. Available in a wide variety of arcs and radii, as well as Toro (male) and female-threaded bodies, they are ideal for large scale installations and retrofits. In addition, the Precision Series Spray nozzles are available with factory-installed Pressure Compensating Discs (PCD). Rain Bird Rolls Out XFS-CV Dripline

drip irrigation
In 2010, Rain Bird introduced its award-winning XFS Subsurface Dripline with patented Copper Shield™ Technology to protect emitters from root intrusion without the use of harsh chemicals or treated filters. Now, Rain Bird is rolling out the XFS-CV Dripline nationwide. This product combines benefits of XFS Subsurface Dripline with a patent-pending, 4.3-psi check valve in every emitter that keeps the dripline charged with water in elevation changes of more than 10 feet — the highest hold-back in the industry. This is designed to make XFS-CV highly efficient in even the most challenging drip irrigation applications. “XFS-CV Dripline features the same patented Copper Shield Technology as its predecessor, XFS, but with an industry-leading, heavy-duty check valve that makes it suitable for even more irrigation sites,” said Rick Foster, principal product manager for Rain Bird’s Landscape Drip Division. “Every emitter includes a pure copper chip that protects it from root intrusion, a practice that’s better than simply encapsulating the copper in plastic, which diminishes its effectiveness. The XFS-CV’s emitter check valves mean it can be used effectively on sloped areas, level areas, above ground and below — really, any time a project calls for drip irrigation.” XFS-CV Dripline remains charged with water, so it more uniformly irrigates all plants in the drip zone. The check valve also prevents water from draining out of the dripline at the zone’s lowest points, preventing plants in those areas from being overwatered and avoiding wasteful puddling. There’s no need to recharge the dripline at the beginning ...

Rain Bird ESP-ME3 Irrigation Controller

irrigation controller
Rain Bird has updated its ESP-Me controller with a new look and improved functionality. The new irrigation controller model, the ESP-ME3, builds upon the ESP-Me’s most popular features. It also enhances its versatility in both residential and light commercial applications. “Since 2010, the ESP-Me has been one of Rain Bird’s most popular controllers,” said James Harris, Rain Bird product manager. “In 2016, we updated the ESP-Me to make it Wi-Fi compatible. Now, in 2019, we’ve given it an even more significant upgrade to create the ESP-ME3, the one controller contractors will most want to carry and install.” Like its predecessor, the ESP-ME3 can expand from four to 22 stations through the use of additional plug-in modules. However, unlike the ESP-ME, the ESP-ME3 comes in a single model for both indoor and outdoor use. This makes it possible for contractors to carry just one controller. The new irrigation controller is now also compatible with an optional flow sensor which alerts users to water leaks and can skip irrigation for any affected stations, thereby minimizing potential property damage and water waste. When the ESP-ME3 is installed with Rain Bird’s optional LNK™ Wi-Fi module, users can manage irrigation with Rain Bird’s free mobile app. However, the ESP-ME3 offers new app features not available with any of the company’s other residential and light commercial controllers. “The ESP-ME3 takes our existing Wi-Fi functionality to a new level,” Harris said. “With this controller, users can enjoy faster app speeds; advanced flow sensing; Cycle+Soak programming for more ...

Learn About Irrigation Fundamentals Online

irrigation fundamentals
Rain Bird Services has introduced a new online training course designed specifically for individuals with little or no irrigation experience. The non-manufacturer-specific course, “Rain Bird Basics Online,” covers irrigation fundamentals, including irrigation system adjustments, repairs and operation. “The green industry is facing many challenges today, including a significant lack of skilled, qualified labor,” said Paul Lierheimer, director of Rain Bird’s Contractor Division. “We listened to our customers and developed Rain Bird Basics Online as a result of their feedback. Other courses may start out at a level that’s simply too advanced for people with very little irrigation knowledge. This introductory course is a convenient, economical way to both train those individuals and provide a solid base for future irrigation education.” Rain Bird Basics Online is a video-based, 12-module course that shows crews performing the most common irrigation system repairs and adjustments in the field. Instructors with a minimum of 20 years of experience demonstrate tasks like evaluating a system, repairing pipe breaks and adjusting sprays and rotors. Demonstrations feature products from top irrigation system manufacturers with no sales pitches for any particular product line or brand. Videos are optimized for mobile viewing, making it easy to watch them on the job site as needed. In addition to the new Rain Bird Basics online course, Rain Bird Services also offers many other types of training, including free training on Rain Bird products, Irrigation Association certification training, multi-day boot camp training events and even customized, on-site training that’s ideal for medium- and ...

Want to keep up with the latest news in the design/build industry? Check back for quick updates of recent happenings in the green industry every month with updates on Thursdays. Colorado residents now permitted to collect rainwater In May, Governor Hickenlooper of Colorado signed into law a bill that will allow residents to use rain barrels to collect rainwater. The Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC) says that landscape professionals should be prepared to receive requests to incorporate the barrels into customer’s irrigation plans. The law defines “rain barrel” as “a storage container with a sealable lid that is located above ground outside of a residential home and use for collecting precipitation from a downspout of a rooftop.” The law prevents an association, such as an HOA, from prohibiting rain barrel use. The law goes into effect August 10, but contractors and designers can incorporate and put rain barrels in place to hook up later.
