2022 Vectorworks Design Scholarship Now Open for Submissions

Students Can Win up to $10,000 in Sixth Global Design Competition. Global design and BIM software provider Vectorworks, Inc. opened its sixth Vectorworks Design Scholarship for submissions in early April. This global competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students in major disciplines related to architecture, landscape architecture, landscape design, entertainment, and interior design. Students can submit either new or past projects for a chance to win up to $10,000. “We understand that students have a lot of expenses related to their education beyond tuition and we don’t want this to hinder them from starting their professional journey,” said Vectorworks Academic Marketing Programs Specialist Jen Hart. “Our Design Scholarship competition is the perfect opportunity for students around the world to show off their creative abilities for a chance to help fund their academic endeavors.” The competition includes a two-round judging process. First-round winners each receive $3,000 and will then be entered for the chance to win the grand prize Richard Diehl Award, worth an additional $7,000. NaturaLawn Of America Names 2021 Dan Collins Scholarship Winners

NaturaLawn® of America has announced the winners of the annual Dan Collins Scholarship Award, providing three college-bound high school graduates with funds to assist in educational expenses. First place recipient Autumn Moore of Perry County, PA was announced as the first place award recipient, receiving a $4,000 scholarship. Matt Tengtrakool of Middlesex County, MA was selected as the award’s second place recipient, and received a $2,000 scholarship. Third place recipient Lydia Gilpin of Burke County, GA received a $1,000 scholarship award. The NaturaLawn® of America Dan Collins Scholarship was established in 2017 in memory of Dan Collins, a NaturaLawn® of America franchise owner from Richmond, VA who passed away from cancer in 2005. Collins was known for his kind heart and “larger-than-life,” gentlemanly manner. The scholarship named in his honor seeks to recognize high school or undergraduate students who exhibit similar generosity of character and goodwill. Penn College Student Awarded 2021 Ruppert Landscape Company Scholarship

Ruppert Landscape recently announce that the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) Foundation awarded the Ruppert Landscape Company Scholarship to Nick Bianchi of Pennsylvania College of Technology in the amount of $1,000. Scholarship recipients were recognized at NALP’s 45th Annual National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC) virtual event, March 15-19, 2021. Bianchi (age 19) from Scranton, PA is a sophomore at Penn College studying horticulture technology with a landscape emphasis. Upon graduation, he hopes to continue his education by earning hands-on industry experience with a landscaping company and aspires to one day own and operate his own landscape construction company. “We would like to sincerely thank all the young adults who took the time to apply for scholarships this year and congratulate Nick on this accomplishment,” said Doug Halsey, region manager at Ruppert Landscape and NCLC Committee Chairman. “We are proud to support such a bright, talented young scholar and are excited to see where his career in the green industry takes him.” For more than two decades, the NALP Foundation (a 501c3 organization) has been focused on supporting the education of future landscape industry professionals. Applicants must be at least in their first year of college or may be recently graduated from high school (within the calendar year). The top recipient will also have the opportunity to attend the School of Grounds Management Conference. PGMS will pay for the scholarship recipients’ conference registration and a travel allowance as well. The applicant must be a current student of landscape and grounds management, turf management, irrigation technology, or a closely related field, and must complete all requirements. (See numbered list below.) The scholarship committee looks for: an active student with solid grades and past or current employment in the green industry, involvement in the industry with apprentice or professional organizations, such as FFA, 4H, state or county programs, as well as civic projects and outreach programs. The committee also looks for any personal development classes and any involvement in sports or clubs. PGMS is accepting online applications only, which must include: A cover letter. Typed. Kansas State University Junior Awarded John Deere Scholarship

  Committed to supporting the next generation of turf professionals, John Deere has named its 2020 John Deere Landscape Industry Scholarship winner, Renata Goossen from Kansas State University. Renata will receive a check for $2,500, which will contribute to furthering her education. “We are inspired by Renata’s passion for the landscape industry, and we are honored to name her as our 2020 scholarship winner,” said Mark Schmidt, associate director of stakeholder relations and stewardship at John Deere. “Renata is an inspiration to her peers and her hard work, talent and devotion will certainly drive her continued success. We look forward to seeing the impact Renata will have on the industry.” A junior at Kansas State University, Renata is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture Production, with a concentration in Floriculture Production. In addition to her role on the Kansas State University NCLC team, she is also an active member of the university’s horticulture club.
