Mariani Landscape is the first landscape company to be approved to the ISO 9001 Quality Standard. It is believed to be one of only two landscape companies in the world to achieve this designation.

ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized Quality Management System (QMS). A QMS is a set of policies, processes and procedures required for planning and execution in the core business area of an organization (i.e., areas that can impact the organization’s ability to meet customer requirements, according to the9000store.com).

“A QMS integrates the various internal processes within the organization and intends to improve a process approach for project execution. A Process Base QMS enables the organizations to identify, measure and control and improve the various core business process that will ultimately lead to improved business performance,” says the9000store.com.

Tony LoBello, design director of Mariani Landscape, describes ISO 9001 as “a great communication tool within the company.” Because it contains all of the company’s processes and flow charts, it shows everybody what needs to be done and, essentially, how to do it.

Because ISO 9001 is a “living document,” it is regularly reviewed by both internal and external auditors and updated.
