Herndon, Va.-The board of directors of the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) approved the formation of a new Irrigation Water Management Specialty Group. It makes the fifth specialty group within the trade association. The others are: Design/Build Installation, Interior Plantscaping, Landscape Management and Lawn Care.
The various specialty groups offer members a greater sense of community within and among their specialty, opportunities to network with peers and to develop focused agendas on issues and topics that are specific to each group,” says PLANET President Jerry Grossi, Landscape Industry Certified Technician.
The Irrigation & Water Management Specialty Group will:
–Recommend, develop and maintain educational resources that will equip PLANET members to provide site water management and irrigation products and services to their respective customers.
– Provide a networking venue for members to g ain insight to profitable and sustainable site water management business practices and procedures.
– Monitor, discuss and recommend collaborative organizational action steps as a means to advocate for and defend responsible landscape water use, management and related issues.
– Developing communication topics and strategies that will keep PLANET members informed about the latest technology, trends and business opportunities involving landscape water use and management
– Assist in promoting the positive message of proper water use in creating the healthy and attractive living spaces we all enjoy.
“We have a pretty full agenda already for the coming year,” says Irrigation & Water Management Chair John Eggleston. “Among other things, we will be creating resources, including drought management guidelines for site water management and a specialty group toolkit; and collaborating with materially affected stakeholders on appropriate issues.”
