MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA) has elected a new chair and two new directors to its Board of Directors.
Mike Anderson, CSP, president of Snow and Ice Pros, Inc. in Highland, Ind., will serve as board chair for one year. Rick Huffman, CSP, director of landscape management at The Pattie Group, Inc. in Novelty, Ohio, and Paul Vanderzon, sales representative for Metal Pless, Inc. and co-owner of Deneigement Vanderzon in St. Bruno, Quebec, will serve on the Board of Directors for three years.
SIMA is a trade association for those who manage snow and ice. It provides resources, education and networking for snow and ice contractors and service providers across the U.S. and Canada. The SIMA Board of Directors is responsible for a variety of tasks, including strategic planning, budgeting, program approval, membership direction and more.
Anderson was the first person in Indiana to receive the certified snow professional designation. With SIMA, he has been a member of the Education Committee and Membership Committee, and he serves as a SIMA Buddy & mentor. He has taught classes on marketing and parking lot measurements. He earned his B.S. in accounting from Marquette University.
Huffman is currently serving as chair of SIMA’s Education Advisory Board. He attended Ohio State University for sports turf management and earned his certified snow professional designation in 2005. He is an active outdoorsman and dedicated community volunteer.
Vanderzon has 34 years of experience in the snow industry and is an active member of SIMA sitting on the Outreach Advisory Committee and serving as a SIMA advisor and ambassador. In 2012 he was honored as the Snow Business CEO of the Year, and in 2010 was named the SIMA volunteer of the year. Through his other company, Entreneige, he organized the largest snow-only tradeshow in Canada in 2010.
