Cleveland, Ohio — According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, there are more than 3.6 million veterans with a service-related disability and the need for day-to-day household and lifestyle assistance services is a continually growing need.

With snowy winter weather on the doorstep for many parts of the country, Project EverGreen announces the inaugural National SnowCare for Troops Awareness Week to raise the profile of the program and spotlight the efforts of the initiative’s volunteers, and military families and wounded and disabled veterans it serves. The week coincides with the observance of Veteran’s Day on Wednesday, November 11.

SnowCare for Troops was launched in 2010 in partnership with BOSS Snowplows as a complement to Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops initiative. Since its inception more than 4,500 military families and 1,300 snow removal contractor volunteers across the country have registered to receive or provide services.

“SnowCare for Troops provides military families and wounded and disabled veterans with peace of mind and lifts a significant burden from their plate,” says Cindy Code, executive director of Project EverGreen. “We’re very grateful for the commitment of our dedicated volunteers and the continued support from BOSS Snowplow and the leadership they have demonstrated in support of military families goes above and beyond the call of duty.”

SnowCare for Troops is more than clearing driveways and sidewalks of snow and ice it is a means to allow military families and wounded and disabled veterans to maintain their independence and go about their daily routines taking care of family, going to work or volunteering their time and talents.

“We are passionate about supporting active and disabled veteran members of the Armed Forces in whatever way we can,” said Mark Klossner, director of marketing BOSS Snowplow, “supporting initiatives like SnowCare for Troops allows us to make this passion a reality, and give back to those that have given an unmeasurable amount to our country.”
