2012 OTF Regional Seminar Announced

Dayton, Ohio (June 20, 2012) – The Ohio Turfgrass Foundation will be hosting a Regional Seminar on July 16th at Kirtland Country Club in Willoughby, Ohio. Presented by Golf Preservations and Holganix, this year’s event will feature two education tracks: Lawn & Landscape and Golf Turf Management.

The Lawn & Landscape track will focus on strategies to grow your business through an enhanced online presence. Rob Palmer, president and CEO of Weed Pro, Shaun Kanary, director of marketing with Weed Pro, and Keith Gutierrez, CEO of Structure Marketing will discuss how they have successfully increased Weed Pro’s brand awareness, closing rates and revenue by implementing a comprehensive online marketing plan. Included in this two-part session will be an interactive discussion with attendees, reviewing some of their websites and online strategies. Additionally, Dr. John Street, The Ohio State University, will discuss current issues impacting lawns this summer and provide potential solutions to manage these problems.

In the Golf Turf Management track, attendees will discuss legislative issues, industry practices and more with Pat Jones of Golf Course Industry Magazine, John Reitman of TurfNet and Larry Aylward of Superintendent magazine. This interactive panel discussion will be moderated by Mark Jordan of the Westfield Group Country Club. At 10 a.m., Dr. Karl Danneberger of The Ohio State University will present some of the keys to monitoring and surviving summer stress. Rounding out the Golf Turf Management track will be Chad Mark, superintendent, Richard LaRocca, general manager, and Tim Bennett, PGA golf professional of Kirtland Country Club, discussing initiatives put in place at Kirtland to improve internal communication and employee relations.

Education sessions start at 9 a.m. followed by lunch at noon and optional golf at Kirtland CC. Registration fees are $25 for OTF members and $35 for non-members, which includes lunch. For those wishing to stay for golf, the fee is $75 per person, which includes your cart. Those interested in golf must also be registered and attend the education sessions.
