WOBURN, Mass. – Arborjet has announced the designation of significant resources to work more closely with university extension services and their communities. The cornerstone of this effort is the sponsorship of a new $50,000 grant program to be managed by the TREE (Tree Research and Education Endowment) Fund.

The TREE Fund works to sustain the world’s urban forests by supporting new scientists in the field via funding for scientific research, education programs and scholarships related to arboriculture and urban forestry. Arborjet is proud to partner with the TREE Fund to offer these grants for university extension education and for the education of other natural resource outreach professionals, green space managers and 501(c)(3) organizations that serve communities impacted by the invasive Emerald Ash Borer (EAB).

To further support the grant program, the company has also appointed Arborjet’s Technology Advancement Manager Dr. Don Grosman, Ph.D. to serve as liaison to State University Extension.

As technology advancement manager, Grosman utilizes his broad knowledge of entomology and insect control strategies to help Arborjet in their efforts to develop the next evolution in plant health technology. He previously served as coordinator of the Forest Pest Management Cooperative within the Texas A&M Forest Service, holds a Ph.D. in entomology from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and a Master of Science in Forestry from the University of Maine at Orono. A prolific author, Grosman has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, is a frequent presenter at conferences and is a member of various societies and committees including the Entomological Society of America and the International Society of Arboriculture – Texas. He has also conducted ground-breaking research in protecting the urban and natural forests against numerous pests and has been recognized with several awards such as the Forest Research Award and the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Services.
