WOBURN, Mass. — Arborjet has announced that Propizol, a systemic 14.3 percent Propiconazole fungicide, is available and approved for use in California and all growing zones across the United States for disease control on trees via trunk injection and on shrubs, flowers and grasses as a foliar spray.

Arborjet supports a Federal Insecticide, Rodenticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) Section 2(ee) recommendation for the use of Propizol to prevent the fusarium wilt vectored by Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer (PSHB), an invasive, tree-killing ambrosia beetle expanding across Southern California. A combination of TREE-äge® Insecticide and Propizol has demonstrated up to two years of protection against uninfested trees. TREE-äge will prevent infestation while Propizol fungicide will protect trees from the fungi introduced by the ambrosia beetle. PSHB attacks and kills over 200 species of trees including sycamore, sweet gum, several species of oak, box elder, and big leaf maple. Peak activity is from May to October as the pest increases its colonization and devastation. While Arborjet formulations move rapidly into most trees, drought-stressed trees will display slower uptake, so treatment should begin immediately in infested counties in California. To enhance movement into the tree, Arborjet advises using a soil treatment of NutriRoot prior to injection to reduce impacts of drought stress and to hold soil moisture near the roots.

Propizol is effective for control against tree diseases including Oak Wilt, Leaf Disease on Crabapples, Sycamore Anthracnose, and Dutch Elm Disease, along with a number of other diseases noted on the 2(ee) Recommendation, which applicators must have on-hand at job sites. Propizol is recommended for use with Arborjet Tree Injection Systems, including the QUIK-jet Air. It may also be used with other injection devices that inject directly into the sapwood (xylem) of trees.

When applied as a foliar spray, Propizol is also ideal for the control of numerous diseases that affect ornamentals and flowers including Conifer Blights, Flower Blight, Leaf Blights/Spots, Powdery Mildew, and Rust. Propizol may also be used to treat diseases affecting turfgrasses, such as Anthracnose, Red Thread, Brown Patch, Dollar Spot, Spring Dead Spot, Fusarium Patch, Gray Leaf Spot, Gray Snow Mold, Leaf Spot, Necrotic Ring Spot, Pink Patch, Pink Snow Mold, Powdery Mildew, Stripe Smut, Summer Patch, Take-all Patch, Yellow Patch, and Zoysia Patch. Propizol can be tank mixed with other fungicides for an even broader-spectrum control and is also compatible with numerous herbicides and insecticides.

Propizol liquid is available in both 1-liter and 1-gallon sizes.
