RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.- Bayer Advanced, a division of Bayer CropScience LP, today announced the launch of Healthy Trees For Life,” an initiative designed to keep existing trees healthy and pest free, while also planting new trees across the country. The program’s first community service project kicked off April 26 in Miami, Fla., in collaboration with Citizens for a Better South Florida, a non-profit organization focused on community-based environmental education that provides hands-on learning and promotes citizen-led action.

Additional community events are planned in Indianapolis, Chicago, Atlanta and Cullman, Ala. For each event, Bayer Advanced will partner with organizations such as Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and Friends of the Parks in Chicago to help clean area neighborhoods and parks, share expert tree health advice and provide on-site tree care with Bayer solutions. In particular, Bayer Advanced will focus on protecting trees from destructive regional pests, such as emerald ash borer and whitefly.

In addition to Bayer’s commitment to keep existing trees healthy and pest-free, Bayer Advanced has also committed to help plant new trees. Working with the Arbor Day Foundation, Bayer Advanced will help to plant one tree (up to 50,000) for each purchase of Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Protect & Feed. The dual-action formula kills insects and prevents new infestations for up to 12 months, while also providing a slow-release fertilizer and systemic rainproof protection.

“Trees play such a vital role in the health and beauty of communities where we live, work and play,” said Valerie Henshaw, head of marketing for Bayer Advanced. “At Bayer Advanced, we are committed to putting our science into the hands of consumers, and helping to spread the word and educate them on how to keep our nation’s trees healthy.”
