Dr. Jared Hoyle has joined the KSU Turf Team as extension turfgrass specialist for the state of Kansas.

Hoyle earned his B.S. in horticulture science in 2006 and an M.S. in crop science in 2009, both from North Carolina State University. He focused his research on the influence of cultural practices, mainly turfgrass mowing height, on crabgrass and brown patch incidence. Also, he evaluated rating methods that are commonly used in turfgrass weed science. In 2010, he received his Ph.D. in agronomy and soils at Auburn University, exploring factors that influenced thermal weed control as an alternative to Methyl Bromide. He continued conducting turfgrass research and working closely with local turfgrass managers as a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Georgia until moving to Manhattan, Kan.
