The Irrigation Association’s Smart Irrigation Month Committee has named the winners of the third-annual Smart Marketing Contest, designed to recognize the best efforts of 2012 to promote Smart Irrigation Month.

IA designated July as Smart Irrigation Month in 2006 to promote efficient watering practices, technologically advanced irrigation products and water conservation. The initiative encourages irrigation professionals to promote water efficiency to business partners, customers and water end-users.

Contest winners were selected by a neutral panel of judges based on messaging, quality and creativity in four categories.

The 2012 contest winners are:

  •  Affiliate: Municipal Water District of Orange County (Fountain Valley, Calif.)
  • Contractor: ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance (Calabasas, Calif.)
  • Manufacturer: The Toro Company (Riverside, Calif.)
  • Distributor: CPS Distributors Inc. (Westminster, Colo.)

Winners were recognized at the Irrigation Show and Education Conference in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 2-6, and will be showcased on the IA and Smart Irrigation Month websites. All IA members are encouraged to submit entries in 2013, regardless of business size or segment (agriculture, turf/landscape or golf). The deadline is Aug. 30, 2013.
