HERNDON, Va. – The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) is gearing up to create and reinvigorate green spaces in communities across America on its annual Day of Service, Tuesday, April 22.

The nationwide event is a grassroots project that allows lawn and landscape companies to plan and carry out volunteer projects that help people in their own communities. The goal is to create outdoor spaces which people to be active, spend time together or relax.

On PLANET Day of Service, lawn and landscape professionals will mulch, prune, plant, mow, weed and clean up locations across the country at such places as community gardens, camps, woodland preserves, parks and social service facilities, as well as carry out projects to benefit veterans.

In the past five years, landscape industry professionals have completed nearly 1,000 projects with the help of more than 12,000 volunteers, at an estimated value of $4 million.
