ATLANTA, Ga. — Super-Sod will finalize the purchase of Sunrise Sod, LLC, a sod farm located in Laurinburg, North Carolina, this month. Operation of Sunrise was assumed by Super-Sod in March 2015. Over 350 acres of inventory were gained with more expansion in the planning phase. Additionally, the existing infrastructure of buildings and equipment was acquired.

The Sunrise farm is designated to grow Super-Sod’s warm-season turfgrass brands Zenith, Emerald and Leisure Time zoysiagrasses; TifGrand and Tifway bermudagrasses; and more new grass brands that are still in development.

Super-Sod is a division of Patten Seed Company, founded in Lakeland, Georgia, in the 1950s, that has expanded to eleven stores and eight farms throughout Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and north Florida. The former Sunrise farm marks Super-Sod’s eighth existing farm (and fourth in North Carolina) and was acquired under the Super-Sod umbrella to serve their expanding North Carolina sod markets, particularly in Charlotte and Raleigh, with fresh, local warm-season turfgrasses. It is well situated to serve all of the expanding North Carolina and South Carolina markets.
