Two Upsets in First Round of Mower Madness

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. – Two of the top seeds in the first annual Mower Madness Tournament were mowed over by the competition yesterday.

No. 14 Black & Decker advanced to the second round with a 51-49 last-second win over No. 3 Exmark. No. 10 Billy Goat also defeated No. 7 Wright by 62-38.

The Mower Madness Tournament uses bracketology to determine the best lawn mower brand in the land. All four top seeds – Toro, Snapper, John Deere and Bad Boy – easily cruised to victory in the first round of voting.

Round 2 Matchups
The second round of the Mower Madness Tournament officially started today and spans a four-day stretch through Thursday, March 27.

The remaining 32 lawn mower brands are separated into four divisions:

Bluegrass Division

  • Bob-Cat vs. Simplicity

Bermuda Division

Fescue Division

  • Bad Boy vs. Dixie Chopper
  • Troy-Bilt vs. Walker
  • Big Dog vs. Ferris

Bent Grass Division

  • John Deere vs. Bush Hog
  • Kubota vs. Gravely
  • Lawn Boy vs. Husqvarna
  • Murray vs. Hustler
