MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis-based TruGreen has been named in LATINO magazine’s top 100 companies for Latinos. The recognition was announced with the release of the publication’s Spring 2014 issue, which features its second annual list of companies providing the most opportunities for Latinos.
In selecting the 2014 LATINO 100, LATINO magazine evaluated corporations based on nominations submitted both formally and informally by Latino nonprofits and community organizations as well as readers, partners and stakeholders. LATINO magazine says the objective was to present a snapshot of corporate support for the Latino community in a variety of areas.
In 2013, TruGreen launched a Healthy Green Space Initiative to work with Latino and African Americans leaders in identifying and helping to restore parks and green spaces which have fallen into disrepair. The company leads efforts to help build public-private partnerships which include local government, businesses, faith-based and community outreach groups who each have a role to play in "adopting" such areas and restoring them to a place children can play and the community can proudly gather. These partnerships also seek to advance understanding of the childhood obesity issue, the diseases which come from obesity, and the need for healthy diet and exercise.
