TOCA Presents Communicator of the Year Award

The Turf & Ornamental Communicators Association awarded its 2009 Environmental Communicator of the Year award to Drs. Larry Stowell and Wendy Gelernter, the founders of PACE Turf. They received the award, sponsored by Project EverGreen, for their efforts to promote environmental stewardship on turf in industry meetings, trade journals and their turf management information service. Through PACE Turf, Stowell and Gelernter provide extensive free public services, including the PACE Turf Super Journal and turf management guidelines.

NOFA Launches AOLCP Search

The Northeast Organic Farming Association launched its online searchable database of NOFA Accredited Organic Land Care Professionals, called AOLCP Search and available at The database currently lists 475 professionals from 17 states. AOLCPs are landscape professionals who have taken NOFA’s five-day course in organic landscaping, passed the NOFA accreditation exam, pledged to provide organic land care according to the NOFA Standards for Organic Land Care and maintain continuing education by attending a minimum of four hours of organic landscape education annually.
