Nufarm Promotes Two

Nufarm Americas, Inc. has promoted Tra Huddleston to director of ornamental sales and Blaine Pinkerton to director of turf sales.

Huddleston will focus on the company’s efforts in the nursery and greenhouse market segments, as well as manage the business and be responsible for account management. Pinkerton will lead Nufarm’s efforts in the turf segment and will be responsible for managing buying groups.

Dow AgroSciences Announces More Sustainable Packaging

Dow AgroSciences is now using shipping boxes made of a minimum of 80 percent post-consumer recycled content for its pest management and crop protection products manufactured in North America. In 2008, the company began investigating the use of higher recycled paper content in boxes for products manufactured in North America. At that time, shipping boxes only contained 20 percent recycled material.

Sutton Named New President of Chemtura AgroSolutions

Chemtura AgroSolutions has announ- ced that Scott Sutton has been named the company’s new president.

Prior to joining Chemtura AgroSolutions, he served as business manager for heavy industrial contracting at Landmark Structures and several global leadership positions with Albemarle Corporation. A registered professional engineer, he earned a civil engineering degree from Louisiana State University.

Knox Fertilizer Receives EPA Registration

Knox Fertilizer Company has received EPA registration for Shaw’s Turf Food with Acelepryn and Dimension, which provides season-long control of crabgrass and grubs in one early-season application. This product is not yet registered in New York or California.

Arysta’s Turf and Ornamental Sales Team Continues Growth

Arysta LifeScience has hired Matt Seibel as territory sales manager for the Midwest territory, which includes Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and the Pittsburgh, Pa., area.

Seibel has experience as a golf course superintendent, a turf equipment sales representative, and prior to joining Arysta, he worked at Agrium Advanced Technologies.

Seibel has a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University and maintains his pesticide applicator license.

ScottsMiracle-Gro Launches Water Quality and Conservation Initiatives

The Scotts Miracle-Gro Co. has launched new initiatives involving product changes and consumer education efforts to improve water quality and conservation in the United States.

First, by the end of 2012, phosphorus will be removed from ScottsMiracle-Gro lawn fertilizers, including Scotts Turf Builder brand. Additionally, the company will be increasing its focus on more efficient and optimized ways to use nitrogen in its lawn fertilizer products.

Also, a central part of the company’s new initiative is a multiyear commitment to new consumer communication, education and grassroots outreach regarding water quality and conservation, which includes incorporating water quality and conservation messaging into consumer advertising, dedicating websites and other digital outreach tools for consumers, as well as funding for educational outreach efforts with environmental partners and local organizations.

Tourney Registered for Outdoor Ornamentals in New York

Horizon Offers Resources for Concerns Surrounding Roundup Herbicides

Horizon Distributors has launched BizPro eSources, http://bizpro.horizononline.com, an online course landscape contractors can visit to view resources that can be used to help discuss the safety of glyphosate-based herbicides, like Roundup, with customers. The resources include a downloadable presentation, and are designed to give contractors information to help them answer customer questions and ease concerns about the safety or Roundup.
