UMass to Host Turf Research Field Day

The University of Massachusetts will host its Turf Research Field Day on August 1 at the Joseph Troll Turf Research Center in South Deerfield, Mass. It will focus on the research currently taking place at the center, as well as on research being conducted at other locations by UMass Turf Program faculty, staff and graduate students. Current research includes studies on the biology and integrated management of turf-damaging insects and diseases, short and long-term weed management, responsible fertilizer and water use, pesticide fate and wear tolerance. Save Green, Mow Clean with Propane Mower Incentive

The Propane Education & Research Council is offering $1,000 to qualified buyers of a new propane-fueled mower who agree to share information about the mower’s performance. Customers who are accepted into the PERC Propane Mower Incentive Program can get the incentive for up to 10 eligible mowers bought from any dealer in the nation. IA Program Receives NCCA Accreditation

The Irrigation Association’s Certified Irrigation Contractor program has officially earned national accreditation, making it the only accredited certification program in the irrigation industry. Certification programs that receive National Commission of Certifying Agencies accreditation demonstrate compliance with the NCCA’s Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs.

McCord Joins MPT

MPT-Mustard Products & Technologies, Inc. has hired Jay McCord as U.S. turf market development manager to lead the launch of MustGro Invest biological nematicide. McCord has over 25 years’ experience in the turfgrass industry and has been focused on the biological nematicide business for the past five years. After completing his formal education at State University of New York, Alfred, and Ohio State University, majoring in landscape development and ornamental horticulture, he started his turf career with Nutri-Turf, Inc. He also worked for ProSource One and Pasteuria Bioscience.
