New Partnership at This Year’s Landscape Industry Show

The Landscape Industry Show will partner with the California Association of Nurseries and Garden Centers to make the 2013 Landscape Industry Show an even larger and more diverse can’t-miss event.

CANGC’s members will be encouraged to attend and exhibit at the Landscape Industry Show, broadening CLCA’s marketing reach to bring both trusted and new products, services and attendees to the Los Angeles Convention Center for the annual event. By promoting highlights such as diverse CEU opportunities, on-floor demos and the hands-on Tech Café, CANGC will help build additional excitement and support for the 2013 Landscape Industry Show.

In addition, keep your eyes open for a special event hosted by CANGC on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2013.

WSI Conference and Exposition Draws 900 Water Professionals to Las Vegas

More than 900 participants from 33 states and the District of Columbia, along with seven foreign nations, participated in the fifth annual Water- Smart Innovations Conference and Exposition, held Oct. 3-5 in Las Vegas.

With a program featuring comprehensive professional sessions, panel discussions and pre-conference workshops, WSI reaffirmed its status as the largest conference in the world devoted to urban water efficiency, said Program Chairman Doug Bennett.

The conference featured an opening keynote address by J. Carl Ganter, co-founder and director of Circle of Blue, the internationally recognized website that reports on global freshwater issues. In addition, a luncheon featured the presentation of the WaterSense Partner of the Year Awards by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense Program and the Alliance for Water Efficiency.

Technical tours to Hoover Dam, the Springs Preserve and The Venetian Resort highlighted Southern Nevada’s water-efficiency practices and water resources, while an expo hall provided 60 exhibitors with an opportunity to share their water-efficient products and services.

The Southern Nevada Water Authority presented WSI in partnership with the Alliance for Water Efficiency, American Water Works Association, Audubon International, California Landscape Contractors Association, California Urban Water Conservation Council, the U.S. EPA’s WaterSense Program, Green Plumbers USA, International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, International Center for Water Technology, International Code Council and Irrigation Association.

The sixth annual WSI Conference and Expo is slated for Oct. 2-4, 2013, at the South Point Hotel and Conference Center in Las Vegas. More information is available at www.WaterSmartInnovations.com.

Valent to Expand, Restructure Sales Force to Support Growing Business

Valent U.S.A. Corporation has announced a series of strategic internal promotions and projected new hires, a move to better align the sales organization with the company’s growing product portfolio and to improve service to customers.

As part of the restructuring and expansion of the sales force, Rick Kraus has been promoted to senior manager of distribution strategy, and will oversee the strategic growth plans and initiatives of each agricultural distributor account, as well as manage an expanded team of national account managers. National Account Managers Steve Anderson, Andy Bogue, Tom Caruso, Todd Hubble and John Johnson will report to Kraus in his new role.

Mike Riffle has been promoted to manager of national sales and market development for Valent Professional Products (VPP). In this expanded role, Riffle will oversee both the technical and sales teams within the VPP business segment.

Joe Chamberlin has been promoted to an expanded role as field market development (FMD) specialist and market development manager for VPP, and will now manage the VPP FMD team as well as specific national projects for the professional business segment.

Valent will continue to evaluate growth potential and need for additional support staff on regular basis, and over the next few months will develop and initiate a detailed plan for adding new territories in strategic market segments.
