From the National Association of Landscape Professionals:
We need your help in asking senators and representatives to urge the Department of Labor (DOL) to withdraw its proposed changes to the overtime regulations. Their recommended modifications would be burdensome and costly to your business.
BACKGROUND
On August 6, NALP asked you to submit requests for an extension for comments on the DOL proposal that could change the exempt status of overtime pay to $50.440. DOL intended to make these changes effective within 60 days of the original proposal which is far too little time for research or comment by companies that would be impacted. Despite receiving more than 290,000 comments in the time allowed, DOL has refused to extend the comment period, denying a true voice for businesses across America. NALP and others are now taking this issue to Congress to encourage legislative intervention.
ACTION
We need you to communicate with your elected officials on the Hill. Please use these talking points when talking to your elected officials. You can reach your Representative and Senators through the Capitol Switchboard at 202-225-3121. Once connected to the office, ask to speak to the staff person who handles labor. You can also send a letter, adjusted with your additional thoughts on the rule’s effect to your company.
Please contact Tom Delaney, NALP director of government affairs, at 800-305-2522 with questions.
