Hawaiian Turfgrass has been named the state of Hawaii’s exclusive licensed sod producer of Zeon Zoysiagrass. The grass is grown at the Hawaiian Turfgrass sod farm in Miliani on O’ahu. Zeon Zoysia sod will be ready for harvest in the summer of 2014. Zeon Zoysia is suitable for use as a home lawn yet is fine-textured and durable enough for use on sports fields and golf courses.
Zeon Zoysia was developed by Texas-based Bladerunner Farms, the nation’s largest privately owned zoysiagrass research facility. The grass was licensed to Hawaiian Turfgrass by The Turfgrass Group.
In nationwide tests through NTEP (National Turfgrass Evaluation Program), Zeon Zoysia ranked number one in turf quality. NTEP also confirmed that Zeon Zoysia produces far less thatch than other Zoysia grasses tested.
Zeon Zoysia also holds the distinction of being the grass chosen as the playing surface of the golf course currently under construction for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
